Terms of service
Short version: you pay once, the book is yours, and if it is not for you, we give your money back. The longer version follows, still in English.
What you are buying
The Plain Word: The Gospels is sold as a printed paperback with the ebook included, or as the ebook on its own. Prices are in US dollars and shown before you pay. There is no subscription, no account to create, and nothing that renews. Ebook files (PDF and EPUB) are delivered by email within minutes of your order. Printed books ship free within the US and Canada. When our plain-English New Testament is finished, everyone who bought The Gospels receives the ebook edition free, delivered to the email on their order.
Pre-orders
Some titles are sold as pre-orders. The product page says so, and the book ships when the first printing arrives. You can cancel a pre-order for a full refund at any time before it ships by emailing us.
What you may do with it
The files are for you and your household. Read them on every device you own, print pages for personal use, read them aloud to your kids. What we ask you not to do is resell the files, post them publicly, or pass copies around beyond your home. This project is funded by people paying for it.
The guarantee
If within 30 days you decide the book is not for you, email hello@theplainword.com and we refund your purchase in full, no questions asked. You keep the files either way. Full details are in our refund policy.
What the book is, and is not
The Plain Word is an original plain-English rendering based on the World English Bible, a public domain translation. Every chapter is checked against the source verse by verse. It is a faithful rendering built for readability; for scholarly study we encourage reading established translations alongside it.
The ordinary legal part
- We work hard to keep the site, checkout and delivery emails running, but we cannot promise they will never hiccup. If a download link fails or a parcel goes missing, email us and we fix it.
- Our total liability for anything related to a purchase is capped at what you paid us.
- If we update these terms, the date at the top changes; continuing to use the site means the current version applies.
- These terms are governed by the laws of Ontario, Canada.
