Changing the Word – Which version can we trust?

NKJ ignored the textus receptus 1,200 times.

Jehovah’s Witness Bible was the first one to be changed.  Example, Matthew 16:3 “And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring, O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?”  KJV.  This verse has been completely removed, as well as Mark 9:46.  In Mark 16:9-20, the entire section has been removed.  Why?  Because Jesus appears physically after the resurrection and that is a problem for them.  The esoteric world teaches there is no physical resurrection, it is esoteric.  The other chapters of the Bible relating to Jesus’ resurrection have been modified. 

In the newer versions of their Bible, it states in the margin that this (Jesus’ resurrection) is not found in the oldest manuscripts.  But we will note, that the “oldest manuscripts” were already corrupt because they had the modifications of Origen (this will be address further below).  John 1:1, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. KJV.  In the New World Translation of the Holy Scriptures (Jehovah Witnesses) they ended the verse with “was a god”.

John 8:1-11 has been removed.  Acts 8:37 has been removed, because there we find that Jesus is the only way to be saved…they can’t have that.  1 John 5:7 is a major problem because it tells us Jesus is part of the Godhood.  These are but a few examples.  Many verses, sections, and whole chapters have been removed.  When this Bible was published there was a huge human cry about this. 

What has been changed in the Jehovah’s Witnesses Bible has also been changed in the other Bibles or at least discredited in the margin, if nothing else.  Now imagine, the Bible that we have today do more than what the Jehovah’s Witnesses did to their bible and nobody compalins.

Dublin Review, July, 1881, quote:

By the sole authority of textual criticism these men have dared to vote away some forty verses of the inspired Word.  The Eunuch’s Baptismal Profession of Faith is gone; and the Angel of the Pool of Bethesda has vanished; but the Angel of the Agony remains – till the next Revision.  The Heavenly Witnesses have departed, and no marginal note mourns their loss.  The last twelve verses of St. Mark are detached from the rest of the Gospel, as if ready for removal as soon as Dean Burgon dies.  The account of the woman taken in adultery is placed in brackets, awaiting excision.  Many other passages have a mark set against them in the margin to show that, like forest trees, they are shortly destined for the critic’s axe.  Who can tell when the destruction will cease?

This is just the beginning of their revision of the Bible.

What do Modern Bible Societies Say?

Novum Testamentum Graece.  The German Bible Society, Stuttgart; has to say-quote:

When Eberhard Nestle, in 1898, presented the first edition of Novum Testamentum Graece, he had achieved a work of which the consequences were not only unknown to him at the time, but also to the Wurtenberg Bible Society that made the edition possible.  If the Textus receptus at that time still had a number of defenders, the science of the 19th century had however, finally proved it to be the worst text of the New Testament.  There the editions of Tischendorf (since 1841, the finalized edition of editio octava critica maior of 1869/72), Tregelles (1857/72), and Westcott/Hort (1881) controlled the field.  But in practived terms at the level of university, church and school, the edition of the Textus receptus was still largely used internationally as for example by the British Bible Society till 1904.  Only with the release of the Nestle text did the rule of the Textus receptus come to an end here also.

What???  Science of the 19th century proved God’s holy word to be the worst text of the New Testament???  Prior to this, the Textus receptus stood the test of time. 

Remember, Tischendorf is the one that found 129 leaves of parchment in a wastebasket of which the monastery allowed him to take 43.  These leaves contained portions of 1 Chronicles, Jeremiah, Nehemiah, and Esther. Tischendorf later deposited them in the Leipzig University Library, where they remain. In 1846 Tischendorf published the content of the 43 leaves, naming them the Codex Frederico-Augustanus in honor of the his patron and sovereign, Frederick Augustus, the king of Saxony.   In 1853, Tischendorf made another expedition to the monastery in Egypt hoping for more leaves but left empty handed.  In 1859, a third journey to the monastery under the auspices of tsar Alexander II of Russia and once again found nothing.  However, the day before he was scheduled to return to Cairo the steward produced from his closet a manuscript which was the Codex Sinaiticus.  After Tischendorf’s return to Cairo, he impugned the abbot of St. Catherine monastery who happened to be in Cairo, to send for the manuscript.  The abbot agreed.  Once the manuscript arrived, Tischendorf and two Germans fluent in Greek, an apothecary, and a bookseller transcribed in two months 110,000 lines of text, which Tischendor carefully revised.

The Encyclopedia Britannica, vol. 16, 1936, p. 900-902.  The received text (textus receptus) is the old Byzantine text with hundreds of copies in agreement.  It was written in koine Greek of which hundreds of words cannot be translated into classical Greek.  The early Church used koine Greek manuscripts and rejected the Alexandrian versions which were based on corrupt version with Origen and other Gnostic revision.

Origen taught that Jesus was a created being who did not have eternal existence as God.

If you want to have an ecumentical bible, you have to remove Jesus Christ as the sole Saviour and as God.  What does the Bible say about these secret initiations?

Isaiah 45:19, I have not spoken in secret, in a dark place of the earth: I said not unto the seed of Jacob, Seek ye me in vain: I the LORD speak righteousness, I declare things that are right.

Isaiah 48:16, Come ye near unto me, hear ye this; I have not spoken in secret from the beginning; from the time that it was, there am I: and now the Lord GOD, and his Spirit, hath sent me.

Amos 3:7, Surely the Lord GOD will do nothing, but he revealeth his secret unto his servants the prophets.

Mark 4:22, For there is nothing hid, which shall not be manifested; neither was any thing kept secret, but that it should come abroad.

Luke 8:17, For nothing is secret, that shall not be made manifest; neither any thing hid, that shall not be known and come abroad.

Luke 11:33, No man, when he hath lighted a candle, putteth it in a secret place, neither under a bushel, but on a candlestick, that they which come in may see the light.

John 7:4, For there is no man that doeth any thing in secret, and he himself seeketh to be know openly.  If thou do these things, shew theyself to the world.

NO secrets with God.  Which doctrine do you prefer?  The light from the initiated ones or those of the Bible?  Which God would you prefer to serve?   The God of the initiated ones or the God of the Bible.  I like the Bible, Jesus Christ.

What does Jesus say?  John 18:20, Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

This is the God I prefer, what about you?  I detest the secrecy, this clandistine religion, this “I know more than you” story.  I know the path and don’t care if you make it – you are just catechumen.

Let’s see how the initiated ones changed it in order to keep the truth away from the rest of the world.   Remember Hort said, “we will change it very slightly, here a word, there a word – and no one will even notice – and when we have all the little changes in one big package – our doctrine will be there and not theirs”. What verses did they change:

2 Samuel 21:19

KJV …slew the brother of Goliath     

NIV …slew Goliath

Who killed Goliath?  David.

2 Samuel 23:5

KJV Although my house be not so with God;

NIV Is not my house right with God?

When God says it is not right, the NIV says it is right.  This is turned around.

Hosea 11:12

KJV but Judah yet ruleth with God, and is faithful with the saints.

NIV And Judah is unruly against God, even against the faithful Holy One.

God said Ephraim has left me, Israel has left me, but Judah is still with me.  Here were have them having Judah against Him.  A little change but important, you are either with God or against God.

Matthew 5:44

KJV But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

RSV But I say to you, Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you,

We don’t have a full story anymore.  We are not only to love and pray for our enemies, but also bless them and do good to them who curse and hate you.

Matthew 18:11

KJV For the Son of man is come to save that which was lost.

This is a very important text.  Why is it gone is the RSV?  Because Jesus is not supposed to be the only Saviour.  Can’t we save ourself?  We don’t need Jesus, he is just an example.  Really?  I beg your pardon, but Jesus is the only Way.

Matthew 20:16

KJV So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen.

RSV So the last will be first, and the first last.

Here it makes a difference.  Here it is important to chose, to chose right.  In the RSV,  you are first or last…who cares?  But in KJV, you could be lost if you don’t make the right choice.  Which one do you think is the correct one?

Matthew 20:22-23

KJV But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask.  Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?  They say unto him, We are able.  And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for who it is prepared of my Father.

NIV You don’t know what you are asking, Jesus said to them.  Can you dring the cup I am going to drink?  We can, they answered.  Jesus said to the, You will indeed drink from my cup, but to sit at my right or left is not for me to grant.  These places belong to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father.

They left out the baptism Jesus spoke of which was the suffering for His sake.

Matthew 25:13

KJV Watch therefore, for ye know neither the day nor the hour wherein the Son of man cometh.

RSV Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

NIV Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour.

Are their versions a logical text for the God of the universe to put in the Bible?  You know not the day or hour of what?  Hello, leaving out “wherein the Son of man cometh” is pretty vital.  

Matthew 24:36

KJV But of that day and hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels of heaven, but my Father only.

NIV No-one knows about that day or hour, not even the angels in heaven, nor the Son, but only the Father.

The bible verse that says, “I and the Father are One” (Jn. 10:30).    Then what does John 10:30 make of the NIV verse of Matthew 24:36?  Does Jesus know when He is coming, yes or no?  Absolutely, He knows.  But what does the NIV verse imply by putting “nor the Son”?  It implies Jesus is not part of the Godhood.

Mark 2:17

KJV I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

RSV I cam not to call the righteous, but sinners.

NIV I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.

The RSV and NIV is missing the ‘call to action’ which is repentance.

Mark 6:11

KJV And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear you, when ye depart thence, shake off the dust under your feet for a testimony against them.  Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

RSV And if any place will not receive you and they refuse to hear you, when you leave, shake off the dust that is on your feet for a testimony against them.

Why has the last part of the KJV been removed?  Why is the verse that it will be “more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrha”?  Because they do not believe in a judgment.  The choice you make, who cares.  Don’t they believe in reincarnation?  You can fix it in the next life?  Or if they believe in purgatory, you can burn it off.

Mark 10:21

KJV and come, take up the cross, and follow me.

RSV and come, follow me.

NIV Then come, follow me.

ASV and come, follow me.

What’s the difference here?  There is a cross to bear when you become a Christian.  There is a change in life AND a cross to bear.

Mark 10:24

KJV Children, how hard is it for them that trust in riches to enter into the kingdom of God!

RSV Children, how hard it is to enter the kingdom of God!

NIV How hard it is for the rich to enter the kingdom of God!

What’s the difference in the messages?  The RSV is discouraging that getting into heaven is difficult.  The NIV implies being rich makes it problematitic to enter heaven.  The KJV highlights that those who ‘trust in’ or in other words ‘make an idol of’ is the problem.  One can be rich and do a lot of good with the blessing of money.

Mark 13:14

KJV But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing where it ought not,

RSV But when you see the desolating sacrilege set up where it ought not to be.

Jesus in the KJV is pointing to two apocoliptic books of the Bible, Daniel and Revelation, which should be studied for the end of time.  Revelation says, “blessed is he that readeth, and they that hear the words…” (Rev. 1:3).   “But when ye shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet…” (Matthew 24:15, Mark 13:14, 2 Thess.2:1-12) is what Jesus pointed the disciples to for signs of the end of the age, not to look elsewhere.

Luke 2:14

KJV Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

RSV Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace among men with whom he is pleased!

Ok, what the big deal here?  It’s a subtle change, but what is the change?  Here there is an initiated few with whom He is pleased, whereas in the KJV God is for everyone…no two classes.  RSV is for the one’s “in the know” and the catechumen cannot be included.

These changes are NOT in harmony with the character of God.  This is the VITAL difference.  It is not a question of grammar, it is a question of principle.

Luke 4:4

KJV And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God.

RSV And Jesus answered him, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone.’”

NIV Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man does not live on bread alone.’”

The word isn’t important, you will be told what the word is and what is important or it is what you feel is right, be led by the Spirit.  Jesus said basically in addition the the ‘bread’ is by every word of God.

2 Timothy 3:16

KJV scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine,

ASV Every scripture inspired of God is also profitable for teaching

KJV tells us the whole of scripture is GIVEN by INSPIRATION of GOD AND is profitable for DOCTRINE.  ASV implies every scripture inspired of God (who determines which scripture is inspired) is also profitable for teaching…it is more than teaching it is for doctrine.

Luke 9:55-56

KJV But he turned, and rebuked them, and said, Ye know not what manner of spirit ye are of.  For the Son of man is not come to destroy men’s lives, but to save them. And they went to another village.

RSV But he turned and rebuked them. And they went on to another village.

NIV But Jesus turned and rebuked them, and they went to another village.

The KJV has power, has a Savior, and an answer to all your troubles.  The RSV and NIV has no power, Savior, or answers.

Luke 22:43-44

KJV And there appeared an angel unto him from heaven, strengthening him.  And being in an agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was as it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

Why did the RSV remove the text?  If you don’t believe in the atonement of Jesus, then you don’t believe he shed one drop of blood.  Rather atonement of Christ is incorporated into Aquina’s satisfaction doctrine rooted in the idea of penance.  Penance is a voluntary self-punishment inflicted as an outward expression of repentance for having done wrong and is a sacrament in which a member confesses sins to a priest and is given absolution.  The most important work of Jesus Christ has been removed from the Gospel.

John 10:14

KJV I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

RSV I am the good shepherd; I know my own and my own know me.

In view of the next succeeding words, “As the Father knoweth me even so know I the Father,” this change destroys the exquisite diversity of expression of the original.  It make grammatical sense and gives the relationship between the Father and Son, which means Jesus is God.  This is a subtle change removing some of the power of Jesus Christ.

Acts 28:28-30

KJV Be it known therefore unto you, that the salvation of God is sent unto the Gentiles, and that they will hear it.  And when he had said these words, the Jews departed, and had great reasoning among themselves.  And Paul dwelt two whole years in his own hired house, and received all that came in unto him,

RSV Let it be known to you then that this salvation of God has been sent to the Gentiles; they will listen.  VERSE 29 MISSING.  And he lived there two who years at his own expense, and welcomed all who came to him.

Why is verse 29 missing?  When one decides for or against this subject it is divisive.  As scripture tells us the Jews departed reasoning among themselves.  For ecumenticism it had to be removed, for this movement believes in everybody coming together.  Jesus came not to bring peace meaning he came to stir the heart to convict ones heart and a spirit of separation ((Luke 12:49-52, Matt. 10:34).

1 Corinthians 10:28

KJV But if any man say unto you, This is offered in sacrifice unto idols, eat not for his sake that shewed it, and for conscience sake: for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof:

RSV (But if some one says to you, “This has been offered in sacrifice,” then out of consideration for the man who informed you, and for conscience sake–

Why are there certain rules in the Bible?  Because God is the owner.  Who own’s it according to the KJV?  The Lord.

Revelation 14:5

KJV And in their mouth was found no guile: for they are without fault before the throne of God.

RSV and in their mouth no lie was found, for they are spotless

NIV No lie was found in their mouths; they are blameless.

In the KJV there is an accountability to a higher power.  This is important because it tells us who rules.

Revelation 22:14

KJV Blessed are they that do his commandments that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

RSV Blessed are those who wash their robes…

NIV Blessed are those who wash their robes…

ASV Blessed are they that wash their robes…

In the RSV, NIV, and ASV there is no accountability.  What are they washing their robes with?  In the KJV it is explicit that the saved are to respond with obedience to His commandments.

Luke 4:8

KJV And Jesus answered and said unto him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

Douay And Jesus answering said to him. It is written. Thou shalt adore the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

RSV And Jesus answered him, “It is written. You shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.”

NIV Jesus answered, “It is written.  Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.”

Why did the Douay, RSV and NIV leave out ‘Get thee behind me, Satan:’?  The expression, “get thee behind me, Satan,” was early omitted because Jesus used the same expression later to Peter (in Matt. 16:23) to rebuke the apostle.  This would be a problem for those who proclaim Peter was the first pope, it is a complex issue.

Acts 13:42

KJV And when the Jews were gone out of the synagogue, the Gentiles besought that these words might be preached to them the next sabbath.

Douay And as they went out, they desired them that on the next sabbath they would speak unto them these words.

RSV As they went out, the people begged that these things might be told them the next sabbath.

NIV As Paul and Barnabas were leaving the synagogue, the people invited them to speak further about these things on the next Sabbath.

The Douay and RSV say “As they went out”, and the NIV say “As Paul and Barnabas were leaving” – why the change?  He was speaking to the Jews and they left, then who came?  The Gentiles.  What did they want? To have the message preached to them the next Sabbath.  This is important because the preaching was on the Sabbath not only to the Jews who left, but also to the Gentiles who came in.  This is the Sabbath that was made for man, and was established in the Garden.  The Sabbath never was just for the Jews alone.

Acts 16:7

KJV After they were come to Mysia, they assayed to go into Bithynia: but the Spirit suffered them not.

Douay And when they were come into Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia and the Spirit of Jesus suffered them not.

RSV And when they had come opposite Mysia, they attempted to go into Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus did not allow them.

NIV When they came to the border of Mysia, they tried to enter Bithynia, but the Spirit of Jesus would not allow them to.

Why the change from ‘the Spirit’ to the ‘Spirit of Jesus’?  In the KJV the Spirit (of God) tells them ‘no’.  The Spirit of Jesus implies the Spirit is in control of Jesus and the Spirit tells Jesus what to do.  The KJV implies that Jesus and the Spirit are One.

The Douay is like the Revised. On this change R. George Milligan says: “Acts 16:7,… the striking reading, ‘the Spirit of Jesus’ (not simply as in the Authorized Version ‘the Spirit’) implies that the Holy Spirit had so taken possession of the Person of the Exalted Jesus that He could be spoke of as ‘the Spirit of Jesus.’” [I]

1 Corinthians 5:7

KJV Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened.  Foreven Christ our passover is sacrificed for us:

Douay Purge out the old leaven, that you may be a new paste, as you are unleavened.  For Christ our pasch is sacrificed.

RSV Cleanse out the old leaven that you may be a new lump, as you really are unleavened.  For Christ, our paschal lamb, has been sacrificed.

NIV Get rid of the old yeast that you may be a new batch without yeast—as you really are. For Christ, our Passover lamb, has been sacrificed.

What is gone?  FOR US.  The exclusivity of Jesus has to go.  The phrase “through His blood” is not found in either the Jesuit or American Revised Versions; its omission can be traced to Origen (200 AD), who expressly denies that either the body or soul of our Lord was offered as the price of our redemption.   

The Bible is clear, Jesus came in the flesh, hung on the cross and shed is blood for you, died, was buried, and rose on the third day.  He made atonement on the cross.  We cannot save ourselves it is ONLY through Jesus that we can be saved…there is no other way.  We are not God, we cannot save ourselves by any means.

One writer thus registers his indignation upon the change made in this passage: “Mad? Yes; and haven’t I reason to be mad when I find that grand old passage, ‘For even Christ our passover is sacrificed for us’ – a passage which sounds the keynote of the whole doctrine of redemption – unnecessarily changed into, ‘For our Passover also hath been sacrificed, even Christ’?  And we have such changes everywhere.  They are, I believe, called improvments in style by their authors – and certainly by no one else.” [I]   [I] Rev. 1 Peter 1:22

KJV Seeing ye have purified your souls in obeying the truth through the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, see that ye love one another with a pure heart fervently:

RSV Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere love of the brethren, love one another earnestly from the heart.

NIV Now that you have purified yourselves by obeying the truth so that you have sincere love for your brothers, love one another deeply, from the heart.

The power of God is denied by omitting ‘through the Spirit’.  The RSV says you can purify your souls through obedience and the NIV the same.  You see they have the person achieving obedience through self purification.  Where the KJV has obedience is made possible by the indwelling of the Holy Spirit (God).

2 Timothy 4:1

KJV I charge thee therefor before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who shall judge the quick and the dead at his appearing and his kingdom;

Douay I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming and his kingdom:

RSV I charge you in the presence of God and of Christ Jesus who is to judge the living and the dead, and by his appearing and his kingdom:

NIV In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom.  I give you this charge:

What difference does it make with this one little world ‘at’ verses ‘by’ or ‘in view’?  The KJV implies that judgment takes place when Jesus comes back (at his appearing).  The King James in this text, fixes the great day of judgment as occurring at the time of His appearing, and His kingdom.  The other versions place it in the indefinite future.  There is the teaching of amilleniumism, which means there is no millenium the Church reigns.  When studied out, one will find that this doctrine is not biblical.

Hebrews 7:21

KJV (For those priests were made without an oath; but this with an oath by him that said unto him, The Lord sware and will not repent, Thou art a priest for ever after the order of Melchisedec:)

Douay But this with an oath, by him that said unto him: The Lord hath sworn and he will not repent.  Thou art a priest for ever.

RSV Those who formerly became priests took their office without an oath, but this one was addressed with an oath. “The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind. ‘Thou are a priest for ever.’”

NIV but he became a priest with an oath when God said to him ’The Lord has sworn and will not change his mind.  You are a priest for ever.’”

Jesus was a Priest of a different order – of a higher order according to KJV.  Only Levites were allowed to be priests, but Jesus was of the tribe of Judah – so how could He be a priest?  Jesus was a priest after the order of Melchisedec who was the King of Salem.  These other versions removed His higher order of priesthood making him less than he should be.

John 5:39

KJV Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

RSV You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life…

NIV You diligently study the Scriptures because you think that by them you possess eternal life.

What is the difference between the KJV and the RSV/NIV?  In the KJV there is a command, ‘search the scriptures;’ SEMICOLON for in them ye think ye have eternal life.  It is the scriptures that testify of Jesus who we obtain eternal life through.

On this point the Dublin Review (Catholic), July, 1881. says: “But perhaps the most surprising change of all is John 5:39.  It is no longer ‘Search the Scripturees,” but ‘Ye search;’ and thus Protestantism has lost the very cause of its being.”

What are they saying? YOU have to search the scripture to find eternal life.

John 2:11

KJV This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee

RSV This, the first of his signs, Jesus did at Cana in Galilee

NIV This, the first of his miraculous signs, Jesus performed at Cana in Galilee.  He thus revealed his glory, and his disciples put their faith in him.

The RSV and NIV give a deadly blow against miracles.  These were not merely signs, they were miracles performed by Jesus.  He was special, he was doing something that no one else could do…that is until the Day of Pentecost when the Holy Spirit was poured out.

The word “miracle” is found, singular and plural, thirty-two times in the Authorized Version of the New Testament. Alas! What desolation has been wrought by the Revised!  In twenty-three of these instances, the word “miracle” has entirely disappeared.  In the case of the other nine, although the term is used in the text, its force is robbed by a weakening substitute in the margin.  Our Authorized Bible Vindicated, Benjamin G Wilkinson. Matthew 18:2-3

KJV And Jesus…said…Except ye be converted, and become as little children…

RSV And…he…said…”unless you turn and become like children…”

NIV And he said: “…unless you change and become like little children…”

Conversion in the KJV is a very strong term and implies exactly what it means.  The RSV and NIV leave it out.

John 1:3-4

KJV…without him was not anything made that was made. In him was life…

RSV …without him was not anything made. That which has been made was life, (margin)

Here we have human knowledge exalted above the Diving Word by the revision.

Let it be remembered that the marginal readings were considered of great importance by the Revisers.  Many of them would be in the body of the text but for lack of a two-thirds majority vote.

Hebrews 11:3

KJV Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God,

RSV (Margin) By faith we understand that the ages have been framed by the word of God.”

NIV By faith we understand that the universe was formed at God’s command,

What’s the big deal with, worlds, ages, or universe?  Let’s ask Professor Hort what was the significance of this change.

On this Westcott says: “In this connection we see the full meaning or the words used of creation in Hebrews 11:3: By faith we understand that the worlds (the ages, i.e. the universe under the aspect of time) have been formed by the Word of God…The whole sequence of life in time, which we call ‘the world’ had been ‘fitted together’ by God.  His one creative word included the harmonious unfolding on one plan of the last issues of all that was made.  That which is in relation to Him ‘one act at one’ is in relation to us an evolution apprehended in orderly succession.” [I]

What did he believe in? Evolution.  Ahhh, there is the reason for the change.

Col. 1:15-16

KJV Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature: For by him were all things created.

RSV He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation: for in him all things were created.

The new language of the Revised in the judgment of this Reviser, hinders the application of these texts to a material creation, as in the King James, and limits them as a spiritual application to Christianity.  So, let’s just change the whole doctrine of creation!

Hebrews 1:2

KJV …by whom also he made the worlds;

RSV (margin) …through whom also He made the ages.”

NIV …through whom he made the universe.

It is now possible to spiritualize creation.

Ephesians 3:9

KJV …which from the beginning of the world hath been hid in God, who created all things by Jesus Christ.

NIV …and to make plain to everyone the admistration of this mystery, which for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things.

The NIV did away with Jesus Christ as the creator of all things.  There seems to be an attack on Jesus Christ.

Colossians 1:14

KJV In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins.

Douay In whom we have redemption the remission of sins

What is gone?  THROUGH HIS BLOOD.

What does the RSV and NIV say? …in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins.

Matthew 24:3

KJV …what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

RSV …what shall be the sign of Thy presence (margin) and of the consummation of the age.” (margin)

This is a change of what the Bible clearly says how He will come at the end of the world.  He is going to come the same way he left (Acts 1:11). He is coming in the clouds (Rev. 1:7).  It will be a spectacular event.

Philippians 3:20-21

KJV Who shall change our vile body, that it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body…

Revised/ASV Who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation that it may be conformed to the body of His glory.

What is the difference between these versions?  Let ask them: The change in us indicated by the King James according to this and other Scriptures, is a change that occurs only at the Second Coming of Christ; it is a physical change of tangible reality.  But the change called for by the Revised may occur at any time before His Coming, or be continuous; it may be a change from abstract vices to abstract virtues.

This has spiritualized away the coming of Christ.  We will stick with the Bible, He comes in glory and we are changed instantly.

2 Thess. 2:2

KJV That ye be not soon shaken in mind, …as that the day of Christ is at hand.

Revised That ye be not quickly shaken from your mind, …as that the day of the Lord is now present.

NIV not to become easily unsettled or alarmed … saying that the day of the Lord has already come.

‘Is at hand’ means soon to come.  The Revised implies mean it could already be here, same with NIV.

Titus 2:13

KJV …looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

RSV …awaiting our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

By changing the adjective “glorious” to the nourn “glory”, the Revisers have removed the Second Coming of Christ from this text.

Revelation 1:7

KJV …he cometh with clouds; …and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him.

Revised / ASV …he is coming with the clouds,… and all the tribes of the earth shall mourn over him.

Bishop Westcott himself, states: “All the tribes of the earth shall mourn over Him in penitential sorrow, and not, as the Authorized Version, shall wail because of Him in the present expectation of terrible vengeance.” [I]

So now when Jesus comes, they will all say “we sorry for what we did”, He will say ‘that’s fine my children come you are all saved.’   Purgatory will burn it off or for others reincarnation may do the trick.

But this is not what the Bible teaches, there will be a judgment upon the earth for its rebellion, just as with the flood, Sodom and Gomorrah, etc.  He provided then and provides now a warning of judgment and invites everyone to enter the ark…He stands at the door and knocks waiting for us to invite him in.

Dr. Alexander Roberts, a member of the English New Testament Committee writes on Acts 3:19,20: “Acts 3:19,20. An Impossible translation here occurs in the Authorized Version, in which we read: ‘Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord; and He shall send Jesus Christ which before was preached unto you.’  For eschatological reasons, it is most important that the true rendering of this passage should be presented.  It is thus given in the Revised Version: ‘Repent ye, therefore, and turn again, that your sins may be blotted out, that so seasons of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord; and that He may send the Christ who hath been appointed for you, (even) Jesus.’” [I]

In a nutshell, they changed this text to read that there is no judgment when Jesus comes.  Most of the Revisers did not believe there would be a personal return of Jesus before the restitution of all things, which the Authorized rendering of the passage teaches.  So, a whole change in doctrine has occurred regarding the advent of Christ.

Mark 7:19

KJV Because it entereth not into his heart, but into the belly, and goeth out into the draught, purging all meats?

RSV since it enters, not his heart but his stomach, and so passes on?” (Thus he declared all foods clean.)

NIV For it doesn’t go into his heart but into his stomach, and then out of his body. “In saying this, Jesus declared all foods “clean”.

Where are “all foods clean” declared in the KJV?  Nowhere.  This is a whole new doctrine.

Luke 23:44-45

KJV And it was about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour. And the sun was darkened…

RSV It was now about the sixth hour, and there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour, while the sun’s light failed…

Moffat “And darkness covered the whole land till three o’clock, owing to an eclipse of the sun.”

According to the KJV, showing that Jesus was the Son of God there was a celestial miracle.  No miracle in the other versions.

1 Corinthians 7:5

KJV Defraud ye not one the other, except it be with consent for a time, that ye may give yourselves to fasting and prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency.

RSV Do not refuse one another except perhaps by agreement for a season, that you may devote yourselves to prayer; but then come together again, lest Satan tempt you through lack of self-control.

Fasting is removed which shows to be beneficial.

John 9:4

KJV I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.

RSV We must work the works of him who sent me, while it is day; night comes, when no one can work.

NIV As long as it is day, we must do the work of him who sent me.  Night is coming, when no-one can work.

Massive difference between I and We.  In the one, Jesus is the ONLY one who can do this work.  In the other, we can all do it.

1 Corinthians 11:29

KJV For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord’s body.

RSV For any one who eats and drinks without discerning the body eats and drinks judgment upon himslef.

NIV For anyone who eats and drinks without recognising the body of the Lord eats and drinks judgment on himself.

The omission of “unworthily” and “Lord’s” therefore condemns Protestants who do not believe that the bread has been turned into the body of Christ.  The Authorized Version has been changed to support a doctrine of transubstantiation.

James 5:16

KJV Confess your faults one to another,

RSV Therefore confess your sins to one another,

NIV Therefore confess your sins to each other

Dublin Review (Catholic), July, 1881, says: “The Apostles have now power to ‘forgive’ sins, and not simply to ‘remit’ them. ‘Confess therefore your sins is the new reading of James 5:16.”  So here, the confessional has been restored.

Hebrews 10:21

KJV And having an high priest over the house of God;

RSV and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

NIV and since we have a great priest over the house of God,

The expression “great priest” exalts the order of the priesthood among whom Jesus happens to be the greatest one.  This provides a means for a priesthood.

Acts 15:23

KJV And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles and elders and brethren send greeting unto the brethren…

RSV …with the following letter: “The brethren, both the apostles and the elders, to the brethren who are of the Gentiles…

NIV With them they sent the following letter: The apostles and elders, your brothers, To the Gentile believers…

In the KJV the first apostolic letters were sent out to the churches in this manner: apostles, elders, and brethren.  So, there were three groups officiating in the church, and Peter says ‘you are all priests’ (1 Peter 2:5-9).  This early letter is very important for us to understand this.

What does the RSV and NIV do by leaving out a couple of words and changing comma?  They create only two groups: the apostles/elders and the brethren.  This change allows for a structure of church government which separates the priesthood from the laity.  What do they say? 

“This passage is used as a foundation on which to base an argument for a clergy separated by God in their function from the lay brethren.  It makes a vast difference, in sending out this authoritative letter, from the first council of the Christian Church, whether it issued from the apostles and elders only, or issued from the apostles, elders, and the brethren. Here again to effect this change the Revisers omitted two Greek words.”

Newsflash, the brethren have the right to read and preach the Word of God because we are priest of the Most High.  Making this change is removing this right that was God-given.

“This name then of ‘priest’ and ‘priesthood’ properly so called, as St. Augustine saith, which is an order distinct from the laity and vulgar people, ordained to offer Christ in an unbloddy manner in sacrifice to His heavenly Father for us, to preach and minister the sacraments, and to be the pastors of the people, they wholly suppress in their translations.” [I]

Basically, what Augustine is saying is we are of the priesthood and you are profane rubbish.

Hebrews 9:27

KJV And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

RSV And just as it is appointed for men to die once, and after that comes judgment,

NIV Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

Let’s ask these people what this change meant.  Canon Farrar claims the change was deliverate:  Canon Farrar ought to know, because he was a member of that brilliant organization the “Apostles Club”…

Farrar said on this change:

“There is a positive certainty that it does not mean ‘the judgment’ in the sense in which that word is popularly understood.  By abandoning the article which King James translators here incorrectly inserted, the Revisers help, as they have done in so many other places, silently to remove deep seated errors.  At the death of each of us there follows ‘a judgment,’ as the sacred writer says: the judgment, the final judgment, many not be for centuries to come.  In the omission of that unauthorized little article from the Authorized Version by the Revisers, lies no less a doctrine than that of the existence of an Intermediate State [I]

Wow! By the removal of the little article you have purgatory in the Bible.

Luke 1:72

KJV To perform the mercy promised to our fathers…

Revised/NIV To show Mercy to Our fathers.

To perform the mercy promised to our fathers long ago, Christ came, is the meaning of the King James.  The Revised and NIV means that Christ came to shew to our dead fathers the mercy they need now.  This paved a clear path to praying for the dead!

“For the text was one which, if rendered literally, no one could read without being convinced, or at least suspecting, that they ‘fathers’ already dead needed ‘mercy’; and that ‘the Lord God of Israel’ was prepared ‘to perform’ it to them.  But where were those fathers? Not in heaven, where mercy is swallowed up in joy. And assuredly not in the hell of the damned, where mercy could not reach them. They must therefore have been in a place between both, or neither the one nor the others. What? In Limbo or Purgatory? Why, certainly. In one or the other.”

So, there it is folks, we have Purgatory in the Bible.

The bishop further claims that the Revisers, in making this change, vindicated the Jesuit New Testament of 1582, and convicted the King James of a perversion.

1 Peter 4:6

KJV For this cause was the gospel preached also to them that are dead…

RSV For this is why the gospel was preached even to the dead…

NIV For this is the reason the gospel was preached even to those who are now dead,

What does this change mean?  In the KJV it is saying that the gospel was preached in the past to those who are dead now.  So, they were alive went it was preached to them, but they are now dead.  Also, in the KJV, when you are dead you remain dead until the resurrection. Context matters!

The change has invented non-biblical doctrines that when you die the ‘spirit’ lives on therefore the gospel can be preached to the dead.  In some circles, this proclamation is stated because those who are there (in the dead realm) are deprived of the vision of God, whether the person was evil or righteous, while they await the Redeemer.  Truth Matters – The Bible is clear that the dead are alseep and know nothing, their thoughts have perished.  At the moment a person takes their last breath their decision is sealed and they are either just or unjust.

Acts 24:15

KJV that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

RSV that there will be a resurrection of both the just and the unjust.

NIV that there will be a resurrection of both the righteous and the wicked.

The removal ‘of the’ changes the context.  In the KJV, it teaches that when you are dead you are dead and then your rise.  The RSV and NIV teaches you can be a ‘ghost’.

Job 19:26

KJV And though after my skin worms destroy this body, yet IN my flesh shall I see God.

NASV Even after my flesh is flayed. Yet without my flesh I shall see God.

A big difference, one (KJV) is a resurrection, the other is not.

Job 26:5

KJV Dead things are formed from under the waters, and the inhabitants thereof.

Revised They (“the shades” margin) that are deceased tremble beneath the waters and the inhabitants thereof.

NIV “The dead are in deep anguish, those beneath the waters and all that live in them” (This is purgatory)

The KJV tells us dead things are down under, nothing more or less.   The Revised alludes to a ‘hell’ and NIV to ‘purgatory’.

2 Peter 2:9

KJV The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptations, and to reserve the unjust unto the day of judgment to be punished:

NIV if this is so, then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials and to hold the unrighteous for the day of judgment, while continuing their punishment.

Continual punishment is not Biblical.  God is just AND merciful.  The unrighteous dead will be consumed by fire and therefore will have received the second death which is eternal.

Revelation 13:8

KJV And all that dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

RSV and all who dwell on earth will worship it, every one whose name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life of the Lamb that was slain.

In the KJV the ‘him’ is referring to the beast and those worshiping the beast are not written in the book of life of the LAMB slain from the foundation of the world.  The RSV uses a generic ‘it’ as if it is unidentifiable and those who worship ‘it’ their name has not been written before the foundation of the world in the book of life.

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

KJV For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day…

Revised / ASV / NIV …that he was buried; and that he hath been raised on the third day…

What is the difference here?  In the KJV, He has power within himself to raise from the dead; in the others he is inferior to God and does not have that power to raise himself from the dead.

1 Corinthians 11:24

KJV And when he had given thanks, he brake it, and said, Take, eat: this is my body, which is broken for you: this do in remembrance of me.

RSV and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, “This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”

Incredible, now there is a host with this little change by removing the words ‘Take, eat:’ and ‘broken’ from the KJV.  One has a literal body (KJV) and in the other it is not.

Christ is with us always, not in “person,” but by His Spirit.

The Reviser’s doctrine of the Incarnation (the Mass), therefore, makes unnecessary and destroys the truth that He shall come “the second time without sin unto salvation.” Hebrews 9:28.

Cardinal Wiseman exults that the Revision Movement vindicates the Catholic Bible:

“When we consider the scorn cast by the Reformers upon the Vulgate, and their recurrence, in consequence, to the Greek, as the only accurate standard, we cannot but rejoice at the silent triumph which truth has at length gained over clamorous error.  For, in fact, the principal writers who have avenged the Vulgate, and obtained for it its critical preeminence, are Protestants.”

-I wonder if they were Protestants OR people disguised as Protestants.  For sure, the Reformers had it right and it is a fact that they were Protestants.

“From the Very Rev. Thomas S. Preston, of St Ann’s (R.C.) Church of New York,” – ‘The brief examination which I have been able to make of the Revised Version of the New Testament has convinced me that the Committee have labored with great sincerity and diligence, and that they have produced a translation much more correct that that generally received among Protestants.

It is to us a gratification to find that in very man instances they have adopted the reading of the Catholic Version, and have thus by their scholarship confirmed the correctness of our Bible.”

A Catholic magazine claims that the Revised Version is the death knell of Protestantism.

“On the 17th of May the English speaking world awoke to find that its Revised Bible had banished the Heavenly Witnesses and put the devil in the Lord’s Prayer.  Protests loud and deep went forth against the insertion: against the omission none.  It is well, then, that the heavenly Witnesses should depart whence their testimony is no longer received.  The Jews have a legend that shortly before the destruction of their Templt, the Shechinah departed from the Holy of Holies, and the Sacred Voices were hard saying,,’Let us go hence.’ So perhaps it is to be with the English Bible, the Temple of Protestantism.  The going forth of the Heavenly Witnesses is the sign of the beginning of the end.  Lord Panmurc’s prediction may yet prove true – the New Version will be the death knell of Protestantism.”  Dublin Review (Catholic), July 1881.

The Revisers had a wonderful opportunity.  They might have made a few changes and removed a few archaic expressions, and made the Authorized Version the most acceptable and beautiful and wonderful book of all time to come.  But they wished ruthlessly to meddle.  Some of them wanted to change doctrine.  Some of them did not know good English literature when they saw it…  There were enough modernists among the Revisers to change the words of Scripture itself so as to throw doubt on the Scripture.”  Herald and Presbyter (Presbyterian). July 16,  1924, p. 10.

John 7:8

KJV Go ye up unto this feast: I go not up yet unto this feast; for my time is not yet full come.

RVS Go to the feast yourselves; I am not going up to this feast, for my time has not yet fully come.

Is Jesus a liar?  In the KJV the context is that Jesus said he was not going up yet, but he went when his time full came.  The RSV never has Jesus going.

– The greatest damage of all is when you take away the Deity of Christ.

Islam – makes Christ a man. The translator, as well as the reader, is confronted with the vital question, “Whom do men say that I am?”.  The Ebionite of old, and later the Scinian, asserted that Jesus was merely man… “Which Bible can We Trust?”, Les Garrett, p. 48

Matthew 16:22

KJV Be it far from thee, Lord:

RSV God forbid, Lord!

Slight difference.

Titus 2:13

KJV Looking for that blessed hope, and the glorious appearing of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

RSV awaiting our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ,

ASV looking for the blessed hope and appearing of the glory of the great God and our Saviour Jesus Christ;

In the KJV, Jesus is God; and in the others he only has the glory of the great God which God gives him – making Jesus subordinate to God.

Isaiah 7:14

KJV Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

RSV Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign.  Behold, a young woman shall conceive and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

The KJV, describes a virgin a specific kind of woman; and the RSV identifies this woman as ‘a young woman’.  Here in the RSV any young woman could qualify, so that would not be a sign at all.  In comparison, which one would be a real sign…the VIRGIN giving birth…that would be something special.

A Jewish Scholar among the R.S.V. translators.  For example, the prophecy of Isaiah 7:14 is altered to read “A young woman shall conceive and bear a son.”  The Textus Receptus reads: “A virgin shall conceive…”

Rabbi Balfour Brickner of Temple Sinai, Washington. I”I am delighted to know that at least this great error of translation has been finally corrected, and that al least some elements of the Christian world no long officially maintain that Isaiah 7:14 is a prediction that Jesus was to be  born of the birgin Mary.” ‘Which Bible Can We Trust”, Les Garrett, p. 49/50.

Psalm 45:6

KJV Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: the sceptre of thy kingdom is a right sceptre.

RSV Your divine throne endures for ever and ever.  Your royal scepter is a scepter of equity;

What happened here?  The name of God is withheld from Christ.  The Name of God is here reduced to the adjective ‘divine’, but when this text is quoted in Hebrews 1:8, it is made to apply to the Son, and the Name of God is restored in the text.  The footnote leaves… “God is your throne” in the note. WBCWT, LG, 50.

Hebrews 1:8

KJV But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom.

RSV But of the Son he says, “Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever, the righteous scepter is the scepter of thy kingdom.

Here it is the same, but in the Psalms it was changed so as not to apply the title “God” to Jesus.

Proverbs 8:22

KJV The LORD possessed me in the beginning of his way, before his works of old.

RSV The LORD created me at the beginning of his work, the first of his acts of old.

NIV The LORD brought me forth as the first of his works, before his deeds of old;

This is Messianic passage in the new versions alleges that the Person spoken of was a CREATURE. His eternal pre-existence is denied.  This kind of teaching has been widely canvassed in recent times by the so-called “Jehovah’s Witnesses.” WBCWT, LG, 50.

The KJV is clear, Jesus is God in the beginning.

Daniel 3:25

KJV and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

RSV and the appearance of the fourth is like a son of the gods

NIV and the fourth looks like a son of the gods.

ASV and the aspect of the fourth is like a son of the gods.

Big difference in His identity.

Micah 5:2

KJV …yet out of thee shall he come forth unto me that is to be ruler in Israel; whose goings forth have been from of old, from everlasting.

RSV …from you shall come forth for me one who is to be ruler in Israel, whose origin is from of old, from ancient days.

Thus the eternal pre-existence of the Son of God is denied and the new translation assigns to the ETERNAL SON an origin in time. WBCWT, LG, 50.

Matthew 1:25

KJV And knew her not till she had brought forth her firstborn son: and he called his name Jesus.

RSV …but knew her not until she had borne a son; and he called his name Jesus.

Jesus’ miraculous birth is obscured.  The ‘firstborn son’ is important because it implies a virgin.

In the footnote of early editions of RSV you find: …Joseph to whom was betrothed the virgin Mary, as the father of Jesus who is called Christ.  HERE they have Joseph as Jesus’ father.

KJV …Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

In the KJV, Jesus is miraculously born, in RSV he has an earthly father.

Luke 2:33

KJV And Joseph and his mother marvelled at those things which were spoken of him.

Douay And his father and mother were wondering at those things which were spoken concerning him.

RSV And his father and his mother marveled at what was said about him.

NIV The child’s father and mother marveled at what was said about him.

Again, the difference between the KJV and the other versions is that Jesus is given an earthly father, reducing the miracle of his birth.

Matthew 13:51

KJV Jesus saith unto them, Have ye understood all these things”  They say unto him, yea, Lord.

NIV “Have you understood all these things?” Jesus asked.  “Yes,” they replied.  RSV says basically the same thing.

In the KJV, Jesus is recognized as Lord.  By the way, anywhere the NKJV has Jesus is Lord has been removed…it is gone.

Matthew 19:16-17

KJV Good Master, what good thing shall I do, that I may have eternal life?  And he said unto him, Why callest thou me good?  There is none good but one, that is, God.

RSV “Teacher, what good deed must I do, to have eternal life?”  And he said to him, “Why do you ask me about what is good?  One there is who is good.

The Authorized Version says in effect, “You know there is only One Who is essentially and perfectly good – that is God Himself.  You addressed me as ‘Good’, but do you really believe me to be ‘Good’ and therefore one with God? WBCYT, LG 51

In the RSV goodness is not applied to the person, in the KJV Jesus is called the Good Master and Jesus recognizes something in him and asked him ‘why do you call me Good Master?’  For surly you know there is One who is good and that is God.  So what is Jesus saying?  You have recognized something, that I (Jesus) is God.  In the RSV, because of the change – this young man does not recognize Jesus as God.

Matthew 27:35

KJV And they crucified him, and parted his garments, casting lots; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots.

RSV And when they had crucified him, they divided his garments among them by casting lots;

NIV When they had crucified him, they divided up his clothes by casting lots.

Everywhere in the new translations where is says “that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, They parted my garments among them and upon my vesture they…” has been removed.  Why?  The modern translations removed it because it PROVES that Jesus was the fulfillment of prophecy.  If it is taken away, then Jesus does not fulfill prophecy.

Matthew 2:15

KJV Out of Egypt have I called my son.

Revised / ASV Out of Egypt did I call my son

Hosea 11:1, When Israel was a child, then I loved him, and called my son out of Egypt.

As the Revised/ASV reads, Hosea is now not a fulfillment of prophecy.

Mark 15:3

KJV And the chief priests accused him of many things, but he answered nothing.

RSV And the chief priests accused him of many things. (same in NIV and ASV)

Why is the phrase “but he answered nothing” left out of the RSV, NIV, and ASV?  Because it is a fulfillment of prophecy.

Mark 15:28

KJV And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, And he was numbered with the transgressors.

RSV Missing

Omitted because this was a fulfillment of prophecy.

1 John 4:3

KJV And every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the world.

RSV and every spirit which does not confess Jesus is not of God.  This is the spirit of antichrist, of which you heard that it was coming, and now it is in the world already.

NIV but every spirit that does not acknowledge Jesus is not from God.  This is the spirit of the antichrist, which you have heard is coming and even now is already in the world.

Christ coming in the flesh is a central doctrine.  What happened to it?  They removed it, so that leads me to think that the RSV and NIV is written by the antichrist.  Is this not what KJV says? If a spirit confesses that Jesus Christ did not come in the flesh, that spirit is not of God but is the spirit of the antichrist.

Mark 16:9-20

KJV Now when Jesus was risen early the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.
10 And she went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept.
11 And they, when they had heard that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.
12 After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they walked, and went into the country.
13 And they went and told it unto the residue: neither believed they them.
14 Afterward he appeared unto the eleven as they sat at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them which had seen him after he was risen.
15 And he said unto them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.
16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.
17 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues;

Matthew 6:13

KJV And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.
Douay And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil. Amen.
RSV And lead us not into temptation. But deliver us from evil.  As well as the NIV.
Why is ‘For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever.’ out?  Jesus must not be exaulted.

Luke 11:2-4
KJV And he said unto them, When ye pray, say, Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed by thy name.  Thy kingdom come. Thy will be done, as in heaven, so in earth.
RSV Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come.
NIV He said to them, “When your pray, say: “Father, hallowed by your name, your kingdom come.”
In the KJV, you cannot have any other as father EXCEPT ‘Our Father” which art in heaven.  The other versions allow for an fallible person to be titled as Father on earth.  This is taking a spiritual title that belongs to God alone.

Verses 3-4

KJV Give us day by day our daily bread.  And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us.  And lead us not into temptation; but deliver us from evil.
In the Douay, RSV and NIV the words that are underlines above in KJV have been removed.
The KJV is clear that only God can deliver us from evil.

Luke 24:40
KJV And when he had thus spoken, he shewed them [his] hands and [his] feet.
RSV Missing…
Jesus post-resurrection appearances are omitted.

Luke 24:51-52

KJV And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.  And they worshipped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy:
NASB While he blessed them, he parted from them. And they returned to Jerusalem with great joy,
The KJV tells us Jesus was carried up into heaven and that they worshipped him.  Missing from the NASB obscuring His miraculous ascension.

John 3:13
KJV And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven, even the Son of man which is in heaven.
RSV No one has ascended into heaven but he who descended from heaven, the Son of man.
The KJV verifies that He is God who is in heaven.  The rightful place of the Son of Man in heaven is denied.

John 6:33
KJV For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
RSV For the bread of God is that which comes down from heaven, and gives life to the world.
In the KJV, ‘he which’ identifies a person, in the RSV it identified the bread.  Big difference.  Jesus is systematically removed in the modern translations.

John 6:47

KJV Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
RSV Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes has eternal life
The belief in Jesus as God has been removed.  Those two little words make all the difference in the world.  Gone!

John 16:16
KJV A little while, and ye shall not see me; and again, a little while, and ye shall see me, because I go to the Father.
RSV “A little while, and you will see me no more; again a little while, and you will see me.”
NIV “In a little while you will see me no more, and then after a little while you will see me.”
The reason why there is space between ‘not seeing and then seeing Him’ is BECAUSE he goes to the Father.  What is the point for removing it?  This is an important piece of information which highlights their relationship one to another.

John 16:23
KJV …Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
RSV …if you ask anything of the Father, he will give it to you in my name.
Prayer to the Father in the Name of the Son is discounted.  In the KJV, the character of God is highlighted in his relationship with humanity.  We can pray directly to the Father in the Name of Jesus Christ.  We don’t need any other mediation other than Jesus Christ.

Acts 2:30
KJV Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his loins, according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ to sit on his throne;
RSV Being therefore a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him that he would set one of his descendants upon his throne,
Why is ‘the flesh’ missing?  The physical coming of God in the flesh is denied.  Remember, an earlier verse told us that those who deny this is antichrist.  This is HUGE.  So again, we have the spirit of the antichrist in the RSV.

Acts 8:36-37
KJV And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?  And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest.  And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
RSV And as they went along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, “See, here is water! What is to prevent my being baptized?”
The testimony to His Divine Sonship is omitted.  Verse 37 have been entirely removed. Why? It is not Jesus that saves you it is yourself.  This is heretical.

Acts 9:29
KJV And he spake boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians; but they went about to slay him.
NIV He talked and debated with the Grecian Jews, but they tried to kill him.
Why has ‘in the name of the Lord Jesus’ has been removed?  Jesus makes the difference in any debate…it is HIS name we are to present the debate.  The new versions make Jesus less and less.  Someone once said, if you look you will find Jesus on every page of the Bible.  This is true, for the entire Bible points to Him as our creator, sustainer, redeemer, judge, mediator, God and so much more.  His relationship with the Father and the Holy Spirit are defined so we have a base understanding of the triune Godhead.

Acts 22:16
KJV …and wash away thy sins, calling on the name of the Lord.
RSV …and wash away your sins, calling on his name.
NIV …and wash your sins away, calling on his name.
This is just another one of those texts where they removed Him.

Romans 1:3
KJV …concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, …
RSV …the gospel concerning his Son,…
NIV …regarding his Son,…
Again, the identification of the Son – Jesus Christ our Lord – has been removed.

Romans 9:5
KJV Whose are the fathers, and of whom as concerning the flesh Christ came, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.
RSV …to them belong the patriarchs, and of their race, according to the flesh, is the Christ.  God who is over all be blessed for ever. Amen.
In the KJV, Christ once again is marginalized.

Romans 14:10
KJV …for we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ.
RSV …For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of God;
The judgment seat of Christ is abolished.  You see, KJV makes Christ, God.  Not only that, it exalts Jesus as the Judge.

1 Corinthians 15:47
KJV The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
RSV The first man was from the earth, a man of dust; the second man is from heaven.
The second man (Jesus) is not only from heaven, He is the LORD from heaven.  With a strike of a pen it is gone.

1 Timothy 3:16
KJV And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness; God was manifest in the flesh,
RSV Great indeed, we confess, is the mystery of our religion: He was manifested in the flesh,
NIV Beyond all question, the mystery of godliness is great: He appear in a body,
Jesus is systematically reduced and lessened or taken completely out of the Gospel.
Upwards of 1800 years have run their course since the Holy Ghost, by His servant Paul, rehearsed ‘the Mystery of Godliness,’ declaring this to be the great foundation act, namely, that ‘God was manifest in the flesh.” And lo! Out of 254 copies of St. Paul’s Epistles, no less than 352 are discovered to have preserved that expression. WBCYT, LG 166.
There is much debate about the Trinity today.  There are those out there that say the doctrine of the Trinity is not doctrine of the Bible and it has to be removed.  That is true if you are using the NIV or RSV, modern translations.  In addition, they will say the trinity is Father, Mother, Child in the esoteric inner circle, but for the goyim it is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Bible is clear.  The Trinity of the Bible is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  There is no other holy Trinity.  Some will say it is Father, Mother, Child in the esoteric inner circle. 
1 John 5:7
KJV For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
NIV For there are three that testify:
The Trinity has been removed.  This text shows that Jesus is God and part of the Godhead.  It also shows there are three powers in heaven, the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, and all three are in the fullest sense God.

1 Peter 4:14
KJV If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified.
RSV If you are reproached for the name of Christ, you are blessed, because the spirit of glory and of God rests upon you.
The glorification of Jesus is removed.


Revelation 1:11
KJV saying, I am Alpha and Omega, the first and the last : and, What thou seest,
The RSV removes this part from the verse, which is Jesus eternal Godhood removed.

Revelation 5:14
KJV And the four beasts said, Amen.  And the four and twenty elders fell down and worshipped him that liveth for ever and ever.
RSV And the four living creatures said, “Amen!” and the elders fell down and worshiped.
NIV The four living creatures said, “Amen”, and the elders fell down and worshipped.
Again, His eternal Godhood is gone, been nixed.

Matthew 4:4
But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.
How is one going to know what God said, if these translators has confused it to such an extent?  Just based on simple logic, which one do you think is most probable the correct text?  The one rendered in the KJ or in the other versions.  It can only be the KJ, for the other version are so pathetic…there is no other word for it.

Here is an interesting story.  At Mt. Sinai (aka: Mt. Horeb) is Saint Katherine protectorate.  Question, what was given at Mt Sinai?  What did God give to Moses as Mt. Sinai?  God gave him the entire Pentateuch (first five books of the Bible), which was the history from our beginning.  God also gave Moses the Decalogue, which is includes in that history (there will be a future blog regarding the 10 Commandments).  God wrote the Decalogue, with his own finger, on tablets of stone.  God also provided Moses with many other laws Moses to be presented to His people whom he just rescued from Egypt.  (some say 603 in addition to the 10 Commandments which are counted from Genesis through Deuteronomy, but this number is not enumerated in the Bible it is the number by men) These laws covered all aspects of lifesuch as: construction and erection of the tabernacle, sanctuary service, the Levitical priesthood, the feasts, marriage, dietary instruction, civil law, etc.  God was preparing a people to be a nation of evangelists to the world.  Side Note: The name Israel, was a name that God gave Jacob  (Gen. 32:28) after wrestling with him one night as Jacob was going to meet Esau.  This name became associated to God’s people, and later with the Jewish people.

The Bible presents the law giving not as a single dramatic event but as a lengthy process.  Moses descends Sinai not once but eight times, and more and more laws keep coming.  Moses wrote them down in a book called the Law of Moses.  Some have enumerated them and proclaim there are 613 (including the 10 Commandments). 

Back to the story.  There on Mt. Sinai you can also find Elijah’s basin, which tradition say this spot is where Elijah came when he fled from Jezabel.  Think about this, at Sinai God sends out his word.  Elijah runs to this place and hides (in a cave) from Jezabel.  Why did Elijah run from Jezabel?  What had he done?  Elijah had a confontation with the priest of Baal at Mt. Carmel (adjacent to Mt. Sinai).  It was a mighty confrontation between truth and error.  After the confrontation, God took him back all the way back to Sinai.  That’s the place where God declared his word, that’s what made the confrontation possible. What stands on Mt. Carmel today?  A huge Bahai temple, preaching that all religions are the same and there is no difference between the various religions.  So, this is the new doctrine that has come in, there is no difference between religions.  But Elijah preached there is a difference.  There is a judgement and he comes back to the law, here at Sinai.  Something else that occurred from Sinai, the word of God went into the world, unadulterated truth.  From Sinai today, something else goes into the world.  Saint Katherine Monastery sits on Sinai, this is the place where the Siniticus text was found.  That is the text upon which all the corruptions, we just studied, are based.  From Sinai a new word is sent to out into the world…a corrupt word.  Mt. Carmel is corrupted, there is no difference any longer they say. God no longer calls his people to separate from error and proclaim the truth for ecumenicalism calls for us all to be one.  This is rubbish, God’s true word will triumph…it always as and it always will.  This is part of the great deceit that Jesus warned about before his ascension.

1 Kings18:21, An Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions?  If the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him.  And the people answered him not a word.  The would have preferred to worship them both, then there would be peace and quite.

The text has either been removed from the modern translations, words have been removed or words have been added which changes the meaning of the original intended text.  The modern translations are ecumenical in nature, thus the changes.  This is an attack upon God’s word.

Compare the KJV or any other Bible that existed before the 1900’s (Russian, Serbian, the old Croatian, Luther 1912, old Afrikkan, Armenia, etc. EXCEPT the Douay and Vulgate) with the RSV , NIV, or any other modern translation to gain an understanding of salvation in Christ Jesus.  The Textus Recepticus has come down through the stream of time.  It led to the Reformation and its been the one people stood and died for.

Words of caution would be to treat any new translation with suspicion.  This blog has been posted to make one aware of the issues. 

Jesus is the only one who made you and he is the only one who can save you…there is none other!  Truth Matters.
