Great Controversy Between Good and Evil

The cosmic battle” began in heaven when Lucifer was filled with iniquity because he desired to sit upon the throne of God. Lucifer deceived one-third of the angelic host and eventually they all were cast out of heaven.

The Bible is filled with stories of this conflict, where mankind is in the midst of it. Since all humanity is involved in this great controversy between Christ and Satan the issues are in regards to the character of God, His law, and His sovereignty over the universe. Each and every human being on Earth will decided which side of the conflict they will stand. There are only two sides, so allegiance will be made to one or the other…the decision is in our hands.

The ‘great controversy’ provides us with an understanding of the origin of evil, and of the eventual destruction of evil and the restoration of God’s original purpose for this world. It also lays to rest the character of God. This conflict, as already stated, originated in heaven when a created being (Lucifer), endowed with freedom of choice (same as us), in self-exaltation became Satan, God’s adversary. He led into rebellion a portion (1/3) of the angels and introduced the spirit of rebellion into this world when he led Adam and Eve into sin. This human sin resulted in the distortion of the image of God in humanity, the disordering of the created world, and its eventual devastation at the time of the worldwide flood. Observed by the whole creation, this world became the arena of the universal conflict, out of which the God of love will ultimately be vindicated. To save mankind the Son of God came and took on human flesh. Jesus Christ lived a perfect life, but took upon himself our sins (becoming a curse) and died the death we deserved. He came to die so we could live. Upon His ascension, Christ provides his people in this controversy with a helper…the Holy Spirit and the loyal angels to guide, protect, and sustain them in the way of salvation.

COSMIC CONFLICT

Why does a loving, all-knowing God permit sin and suffering? Many question God’s love because so much suffering and misery exist in the world. So what’s the answer? This Anchor Point Film documentary focus’ on the question, “If God is truly loving, why is there so much pain and suffering in our world?” Over the next 50 minutes, journey back to where this all started and why…it is an eye opening experience as to how we arrived at where we are today. God is good…God is just…God is love.

THE INCREDIBLE JOURNEY

Lucifer, who became Satan or the Devil through pride and jealousy, wanted to take the place of God. He wanted to take over and take control. He thought he could run the universe better than God. So, he started a rebellion, a war in heaven – the Universal War – a cosmic conflict. But Satan lost the battle against God, and he and his army of rebel angels were expelled from heaven and cast to this world. And so, planet earth became the arena, the battlefield, of the Universal War, this war between two opposing systems – between good and evil, God and Satan. It’s all about who should rule the world – God or Satan. And there’s evidence everywhere of the opposing and contrasting activities of these two great spiritual powers. All around the world we see love and hate, peace and war, joy and pain, happiness and suffering. But it wasn’t always that way. Originally, God created a perfect world for our first parents Adam and Eve. There was no sin, pain, suffering or death. But Satan deceived them into disobeying God and joining his rebellion. This disobedience and rebellion brought sin into the world – and with it, came selfishness, pain, suffering and death. Sadly, sin infected Adam and Eve and all their descendants and totally wrecked their relationship with God.
