God’s Glory – “Very Good” – The Sum of All

This creation that God majestically called forth into being is good, in fact He sums it up as “very good”. It is good in its individual parts, and it is very good as a whole integrated cosmic system. It is here we find the first hint of God’s original intent for his creation, to be glorified by his creation (the whole of it).

God’s glory is intangible, we are unable to touch or grasp, does not have physical presence, nonphysical, abstract, invisible…enough here to get the idea that it can only be appreciated and experienced.

It may be most practicable way to understand God’s glory is it to contrast it with the word holy as the Bible describes it. How are holy and glory different?

Holy is omniscient (all knowing), omnipresent (all present), omnipotence (all powerful), omnibenevolent (all good) infinite perfection, infinite greatness, infinite worth, immortal (non-destructible) eternal (forever existing), love (perfect, unfailing), and even more than we know or could possibly can comprehend.

His holiness is what he is as God that nobody else is. The excellence of His holiness can’t be improved upon, imitated or replicated. Nothing outside of Him determines it or defines it. His holiness signifies his intrinsic infinite worth and intrinsic infinite value.

In Isaiah 6:3, the angels are crying, “Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God almighty” – the next thing said is, “The whole earth is full of his glory”.

In an attempt to define, it has been said: The glory of God is the manifest beauty of His holiness. It is the way He puts His holiness on display for mankind to understand or perceive. So the glory of God is the holiness of God made manifest.

Leviticus 10:3, God states he will be shown to be holy among those who are near him and before all the people he will be glorified. “I will be shown to be holy,” He says. “And among all the people” — say it another way — “I will be glorified.” So to see, to apprehend and to reckon with his holiness and in some sense perceive it is to see glory and, thus, to glorify him.

With this all said, an attempt has been made to define the impossible. The glory of God is the infinite beauty and greatness of His manifold perfections (character, worth, attributes, etc.).

His voice is loud and alive, telling us that all he has brought into existence. You can hear His voice by looking at the heaven, clouds, blue expanse, horizons, galaxies, eath, sun, moon, stars, planets, plants, trees, animals, and the human being are all testifying of his glory (Psalm 19:1, Isaiah 6:3).
